COVID-19 Update

Tiki Kon was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the global pandemic. At present, Oregon is not restricting the size of events or requiring masks be worn indoors or outdoors, except in federally identified locations such as public transit and healthcare settings. However, state and local mandates may change based on current conditions, such as a possible new wave of infections and hospitalizations caused by segments of the population who have declined to get vaccinated.

This is serious shit. The pandemic is still raging around us, in particular in populations with lower vaccination rates, in spite of Portland being a relative oasis. New, more dangerous variants of the virus are emerging in those unvaccinated populations and may once again endanger our ability to host Tiki Kon. Regardless, after two years of hiatus, we are going all in for 2022 with contracts and non-refundable expenses. In order to not lose our shirts if things get bad again, we will take whatever measures necessary to safely host the event.

We are closely monitoring the situation. If mask and social distancing mandates return, or we choose to require proof of vaccination, we will adopt a zero tolerance policy for non-compliance. Guests may choose not to attend and may request a refund until 7 days before the event, but those who do not comply with the health mandates or misrepresent their vaccination status will be ejected by our security personnel. Guests who are argumentative or combative about it will be summarily ejected without refund and permanently banned.

We appreciate your good citizenship and understanding in these matters.
