Dolores Erickson, Original "Whipped Cream Girl" to Appear at Tiki Kon with Rat City Brass

Dolores Erickson, the model on the iconic cover of Whipped Cream and Other Delights by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, will join TIKI KON AIR Flight #13 on Friday, July 10, as a special guest, including a meet and greet  and autograph opportunity for fans. She will also present her artwork for viewing and purchase at the Tiki Kon Island Marketplace (vending) on Saturday, July 11. Both events are to be held at the Red Lion at the Quay, in Vancouver, Washington.

Ms. Erickson's appearance aboard TIKI KON AIR coincides with a live performance by Herb Alpert tribute band Rat City Brass, as part of the Friday night in-flight entertainment lineup, and celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Herb Alpert album's release in 1965. Though it may seem tame by today's standards, Whipped Cream boasted one of the most controversial album covers of its time. It was credited for boosting the album to the #1 spot on the Billboard Top 200 in 1965 and 1966, with sales of over six million copies.

Erickson began modeling in 1952 at the age of 15, after competing in a modeling contest at the Frederick & Nelson department store in Seattle. She went on to become a model with Ford Modeling Agency, appearing in fashion layouts and in ads for cosmetics companies such as Max Factor. She has appeared on numerous album covers, including Guantanamera by The Sandpipers, The Touch of Your Lips by Nat King Cole, Piano Witchcraft by Cy Coleman, and Sold Out by The Kingston Trio. She currently resides in Washington State and is a full-time artist and painter.
